The Government and international agencies are publicly recognizing the fundamental importance of issues such as global warming, over population, deforestation, desertification and biodiversity. The goal of saving the environment is a high priority for most, but people lack a practical understanding of what they can do on a personal level.

5th June1997- was highlighted with the inauguration of Eco club in KASC by Thiru. Apurva Verma, the District Collector of Erode. The Eco Club of our College seeks to encourage environmental awareness and good practice amongst its member Associations, so enabling the Youths to play its part in environmental conservation.

  • In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, the Eco Club organized an Extension Activity - Pamphlet Distribution Drive on June 5, aligned with the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”. Eco Club volunteers actively participated by designing and distributing informative pamphlets highlighting the harmful effects of single-use plastics. Through this initiative, around 105 citizens from various villages in the Erode district were educated on reducing plastic usage in daily life, promoting environmentally responsible behavior.
  • The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of KASC in association with the Eco Club team have undertaken the Pledge to avoid or reduce the usage of plastics especially Single Use Plastics (SUPs) on 03.07.2025. The following pledge was undertaken by all first year UG students of KASC at College auditorium.
  • As part of the International Plastic Bag Free Day observance on July 3rd, 2025, a 5-kilometre awareness rally was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of KASC in collaboration with the Eco Club. The rally route extended from KASC to Pavalathampalayam and back to KASC. Faculty members and student volunteers from both the NSS and Eco Club took active part in the event.
  • As part of the International Plastic Bag Free Day observance, the Eco Club of KASC organized an Awareness and Orientation Drive titled “Towards a Plastic-Free Future” on 3rd July 2025 in the PG Seminar Hall. The 90 student volunteers actively participated in the event.
  • The Eco Club of KASC successfully organized an Awareness Programme – Eco Talk Series I on the theme “Why Trees Matter” on 9th July 2025. The event aimed to promote environmental consciousness among students and was conducted across various classrooms on campus. A total of 8 student volunteers - 6 from the Department of Biochemistry and 2 from the Department of Information Technology - enthusiastically participated in the initiative. Around 2020 students from various departments benefited through this impactful campaign.
  • The Eco Club of KASC organized a Student-Centric Activity cum Hands-on Training on Making Eco-friendly Paper Bags on July 11, 2025, at the KASC Auditorium. The Eco Club volunteers of the academic year 2024–2025 took the lead as student trainers for this hands-on training. In total, 88 student volunteers from various departments actively participated in the training session
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biochemistry had organised an Extension Programme on Cleaning Activity at Vellode Birds Sanctuary, Erode by Biochemistry students on 31.08.2024. Around 65 students participated in this cleaning drive.
  • Eco Club in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) have organised the Extension Programme on Planting Palm Seeds at Vairapalayam Barrage River, Erode by Eco Club and NSS (20) Volunteers on 14.09.2024.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of BBA CA had organised the Awareness Programme on Reduction of Single Use Plastics by Pamphlet distribution on 26.10.2024. Eco club volunteers of the BBA CA department visited the KASC Students in their campus and distributed the Pamphlets. Beneficiaries - 50 Students
  • On November 25, 2024, an Extension Activity - Awareness Programme on Pollution Control was organised by distributing the Pamphlets to the public of Nanjanapuram village. The Pamphlet Distribution event was organized by the Department of Commerce (CA) in association with Eco Club. Beneficiaries - 100 Public of Nanjanapuram village
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Management Science (PG) & Quiz Club jointly organized the Online Quiz on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) Reduction for our college students from 30.11.2024 - 05.12.2024. Around 147 Students from various departments eagerly participated in this Online quiz.
  • The Eco Club in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) have organised the Extension Programme on Planting Neem plantlets at Nasiyanur Road, Erode by Eco Club and NSS (20) Volunteers on 07.12.2024. No. of trees planted - 20
  • The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in association with the Eco Club of Kongu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Hackathon on Sustainable Development Goals: Responsible Consumption and Production with the theme Innovation in Eco-Friendly Product Startups on 07.12.2024. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 42 students, who presented innovative ideas focused on reducing plastic usage and promoting sustainable alternatives.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Computer Science (UG) and Tamil Nadu Battalion NCC jointly conducted the Awareness event on the Reduction of Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) Usage on 16.12.2024 by taking the Pledge. Participants - 60 students from the II B.Sc. Computer Science and 23 NCC cadets
  • The Awareness Programme (Extension Activity) on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) jointly organised by Eco Club and the Commerce department on 24.12.2024. We created awareness about the effects of plastics by distributing the Pamphlets. The faculty members and students of the commerce department educated the dangers and consequences of plastic use to the students of Kongu Arts and Science College and Vellalar Institutions as well as the Public of Nanjanapuram and Thindal Areas. Number of Pamphlets issued - 400.
  • The Eco club of KASC distributed the 25 different varieties of plant saplings to KASC (30) faculty and students on 24.12.2024 at Biochemistry laboratory. The total number of plants distributed is 150. This event is successfully hosted by Eco club volunteers of the Biochemistry department.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Computer Applications organized the Awareness RALLY on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) Reduction on 24.12.2024. The Rally started from the Kongu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), passed through Pavalathanpalayam and Nanjanapuram village then reached the college. The first-year students participated in the rally with the cooperation of the Computer Applications Department teachers.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Green Computing Forum of the Department of Computer technology and Information technology organized the Awareness Programme on Avoiding Plastic Things on 26.12.2024. The aim of this event is to create awareness among students about the plastic pollution. This program has made significant strides in educating and mobilizing students to address these critical environmental issues.
  • The Department of Business Administration organized the Guest Lecture on Biodiversity and the importance of Vultures in Ecosystem in association with Eco Club and the department of Catering Science and Hotel Management on 27.12.2024 for I BBA students. The resource person for the program was Dr.J.Dharmaraj, Research Biologist (TANII). Around 48 students benefited from the session and the session was very interactive.
  • This Alumni association and Eco club of KASC was jointly organised e-Pledge Against the Usage of Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) from 28.12.2024 to 17.02.2025. A significant number (288) of individuals, including students, professionals, and community members, participated in the e-pledge.
  • Fine Arts club in association with Eco Club of our college organized an awareness skit on “Reduction of Single use Plastics (SUPs) Usage” on 30.12.2024 at 4.10 PM in front of the main Building. Students from various departments actively participated and gained knowledge about the usage of plastics.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biochemistry have jointly organised the Extension Activity - Awareness Programme on Effects of Single Use Plastics – Usage and its alternatives by distributing the Pamphlets to Kanjikoil Public on 31.12.2024. Through this program, 100 public members have the knowledge to block the plastic items in regular life.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biochemistry have organized the Content Creation Contest as a part of World Environment Day 2024 Theme Celebration - “Our Land, Our Future” from 27.12.2024 to 31.12.2024 through Online Platform (Google Forms). The 21 students are posted their creative content, all the contents are very creative and more informative about the Plastic free nature.
  • The Awareness Programme (Extension Activity) on Pollution Control jointly organised by Eco Club and the Commerce department on 31.12.2024 by distributing the Pamphlets at chennimalai areas. The faculty members and students of the commerce department involved in this activity. Number of Pamphlets issued - 400.
  • The Department of English and Eco Club organized an Essay Writing Competition on Nature’s Nest: Embracing a Zero Plastic-free Lifestyle on 31.12.2024 at the Media Centre. Around 49 students actively participated in this competition and the best 3 participants were awarded with certificates.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Costume Design and Fashion have organized the Awareness Programme on Reduction of Single Use Plastics (SUPs) Usage - by conducting the Poster Making Competition on 31.12.2024 at AMB 003 Classroom. The 30 students actively participated in the event and created the amazing posters on the given theme.
  • The Department of English and Eco Club organized the Event on Pamphlet distribution against Single Use Plastics on 02.01.2025 at the Mettukadai Bus stop. This Programme inspires personal responsibility in protecting the environment through the use of eco-friendly substitutes such as cloth bags, metal straws, and biodegradable packaging and to guide waste segregation, recycling, and responsible plastic disposal.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biotechnology organized an Orientation Programme on Single Use Plastics (SUP’s) Reduction on 09.01.2025 for Biotechnology students at PG Seminar Hall. Dr. P. Leena Justin, Training Coordinator, Rights Education and Development Centre, Sathyamangalam, Erode served as the resource person. The 142 students of the Biotechnology department participated in this event.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Corporate Secretaryship with Computer Applications and Professional Accounting organised the like Elocution, Essay Writing and Drawing as a part of celebrating the World Environment Day - Theme “Our Land, Our Future" on 22.01.2025 with the theme of En Nelam En Poruppu. 30 students curiously participated in the competitions and expressed their talents.
  • The Intellectual Property Rights Cell in association with Eco club organized the One-day Seminar on The Negative Effects of Plastics on our Environment and Alternative Remedies on 28.01.2025 at PG Seminar Hall. Rtn. Vichitra Senthilkumar, Charter President, Inner wheel Avinashi East, District chair Care for Girl child RID 3203, Past President, Rotary Avinashi East, Avinashi have serves as resource person for Session-I and she delivered the lecture on the Impact of Plastics on our Environment and Sustainable Alternatives and the Session-II presented by Dr. K. Preethi, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbial Biotechnology, School of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and addressed on the topic of Eco Friendly and Sustainable Development of Biopolymers. The 140 Students benefited in this seminar.
  • On January 28, 2025, Extension Activity – Awareness Programme on Reduction on Single Use Plastics usage was organized by Department of Commerce (CA) in association with Eco Club of our college at Mottiayappar Aided Middle School, Vallipurathanpalayam. The students of Commerce (CA), Eco Club volunteers and faculty members raise awareness on single use plastics among students by distributing the Pamphlets.
  • The Department of Mathematics in association with the Eco Club distributed the Pamphlets to create Awareness on the Reduction of Single Use Plastic Usage among the public at Perundurai bus stand on 30.01.2025. Around 50 numbers of Pamphlets were distributed by Eco club volunteers of the mathematics department and told to the public to avoid the plastics items.
  • The Department of Tamil literature in association with the Eco Club organised an Essay Writing Competition on Effects of Single Use Plastics (SUPs) on Soil on 30.01.2025 at Library. Around 50 students eagerly participated in this competition, the best essays were awarded Notable Book prizes on Tamil Mandra Niraivu Vizha 2025, motivating students to continue environmental advocacy.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Management Science (PG) & Quiz Club jointly organized an Online Quiz on Pollution for our college students from 28.01.2025 to 31.01.2025. Around 97 Students from various departments eagerly participated in the online quiz to raise awareness about the environmental pollution and promote a pollution-free environment.
  • The department of Computer Applications in association with Eco Club organized a Monitoring program to avoid plastic usage in KASC Canteen on 31.01.2025 at 11 am. The aim of this Programme is to monitor the plastic usage in college premises. The Head of the department, faculty members and interested students participated in this program to monitor the plastic usage around the college and KASC Canteen.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Citizen Consumer Club arranged the Awareness pledge on SUPs reduction to encourage individuals to commit to reducing their plastic footprint. The program was conducted at Silver Jubilee Hall on 04.02.2025 at 3 pm. The pledge is focused on preventing plastics in our daily life. Around 53 Citizen Consumer Club members were pledged.
  • As part of an initiative to reduce single-use plastics, Eco Club in association with the Department of BBA CA had organised the Awareness Programme on Plastic-Free Path: Educating for a Sustainable, Greener Tomorrow by Pamphlet distribution on 05.02.2025. Eco Club volunteers from the BBA CA Department visited public (30) and Kongu National School students (30) and distributed informative pamphlets.
  • The staff club in association with Eco Club organized a Pledge Undertaking Event on Reduction of Single Use Plastics usage on 06.02.2025 in front of College Main Block. Our college Principal, Dr. H. Vasudevan and 50 faculty members of various departments were actively involved in this event.
  • The Departments of Mathematics and Physics collaborated with Eco club organised the Guest lecture on Energy Efficiency: The Key to a Greener Planet on 06.02.2025 at Ramanujan Hall for the students of Mathematics and Physics (75) department. Dr. P. Maadeswaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Energy Science and Technology, Periyar University, Salem served as the resource person for this event.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Computer Science (UG), organized an Awareness Rally on Pollution Control on 06.02.2025. Mr. P. Ramesh, Head of the Department of Computer Science, along with the faculty members of the Computer Science Department and 129 students from B.Sc. (Computer Science) and B.Sc. (Computer Science with Data Analytics), participated in this program from Chithode Roundana to Government School, Chithode, (Thursday). This program raised public awareness through the rally and the display of placards on pollution control.
  • The department of Computer Applications in association with Eco Club organized a Field visit at KPKN Mohan Text (Manjapai Production Unit) at Bhavani to Monitor the Manjapai production unit on 07.02.2025. The Head of the department, faculty members and interested students of BCA participated in this program.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biochemistry have organized the Drawing Competition on Impact of single-use plastics on the Environment and Sustainable Alternatives from 15.02.2025 to 21.02.2025 through Online Platform (Google Forms) and 31 students posted their artistic work in the given link.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Biochemistry have organized the Slogan Writing Competition on Impact of single-use plastics on the Environment and Sustainable Alternatives from 15.02.2025 to 21.02.2025 through Online Platform (Google Forms) and 46 students are actively participating in this event.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Green Computing Forum of the Department of Computer technology and Information technology organized the Pamphlets & Manjappai Distribution Event against SUPs usage reduction on 21.02.2025 at Kumaran Garden, Nanjanapuram Village. Beneficiaries: 100 Public and 30 students
  • On February 21, 2025, an Awareness event on "Reduction on Single Use Plastics Usage" was organized by the Department of Commerce (CA) in association with Eco Club for our College students by distributing the pamphlets. The students of Commerce (CA), Eco Club volunteers and faculty members gave away flyers to raise awareness on single use plastics among students.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Learning Development cell organized the Craft Creating Contest on Crafting Valuable products from Plastic Waste: Creative Transformations at PG Seminar Hall on 21.02.2025. Around 40 students participated in this event and created wonderful crafts from different varieties of plastics.
  • The Eco Club, in association with the Department of Computer Science (PG), organized the Awareness Programme on "Stop Plastic Pollution" on 24th February, 2025. First-year MCA and M.Sc. (CS) students (30) participated and contributed by putting up posters around the college campus. The main objective of the program was to educate students about the harmful effects of plastic pollution such as waste buildup, harm to wildlife, its role in climate change, the dangers to human health, and its disruption of ecosystems.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Costume Design and Fashion have organized the One Day Workshop on Cloth Bag Production on 25.02.2025 at Advanced Garment Construction lab. The 40 students participated in the workshop. Mr. Bharath Parameswaran, Executive Sourcing and Quality, Fabrito Technologies Pvt Ltd, Alampalayam, Erode served as a resource person for this One-Day Workshop.
  • The Road Safety Club, in association with the Eco Club, organized a survey on “Plastic Usage among the Public” on February 25, 2025. The survey was conducted through Google Forms as well as in physical forms. The increasing use of plastic has raised environmental concerns worldwide. 206 Entries
  • The Eco Club in association with the Learning Development Cell organized the Awareness Programme on Necessity to Reduce the Usage of Single Use Plastics on 26.02.2025 at Mukasi Pidariyur, Erode. The student volunteers of Eco Club and Learning Development Cell distributed the Pamphlets to the rural peoples of Mukasi Pidariyur and explained the current and future problems of using plastics by today. The LDC department coordinators were also actively involved in this event.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Business Administration, Rotaract Club, and NCC organized the Rally on creating Awareness about usage of plastics on 27.02.2025. The participants included the first-year students of BBA, Rotaract and NCC. The Principal Dr. H. Vasudevan Sir initiated the rally. The students covered a distance of about eight kilometers outside the campus. The students actively participated in this rally. Around 100 students benefited from the rally and the awareness program.
  • Eco Club in association with the Women Empowerment Cell organized a Massive Awareness Programme on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) usage reduction for our college students on 03.03.2025. A total of 3000 students participated in this awareness program. Students gained valuable insight about the toxic effects of plastics and their impact on the environment.
  • The Eco Club organized the One Day Workshop on Eco Friendly Bags for Eco Club Volunteers on 04.03.2025 at PG Seminar hall. Mr. S. Karthik Raj, Greenick Foundation, Pallipalayam, Erode served as a resource person for this One-Day Workshop. The 55 Eco Club Volunteers participated in the workshop.
  • The Eco Club, in association with the Department of Computer Science (PG) has organized an Awareness Programme on Reduction of Single Usage Plastics on 10.03.2025. The Computer Science (PG) students participated and contributed by Distributing posters around Thindal Location. Beneficiaries: 10 students & 50 Public
  • The Eco club of KASC distributed the 25 different varieties of Plant Saplings to KASC (50) faculty and students on 19.03.2025 in front of the college temple. The total number of plants distributed is 120. This event is successfully hosted by Eco club volunteers of the Biochemistry department. The distributed plant saplings were planted into the soil for the future development of a green environment. Beneficiaries - 80 students.
  • The Department of Tamil literature in association with the Eco Club organised a Drawing Competition on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) Ban on 21.03.2025 at Library. Around 50 students eagerly participated in this competition, the best 3 drawings were awarded cash prizes that motivated the students to continue environmental advocacy.
  • Every year March 22nd is observed as WORLD WATER DAY. In this regard, the Eco Club celebrated World Water Day on 21.03.2025 at PG Seminar Hall. On this day, the article about the importance of water was published in Tamil Hindu Newspaper and we distributed this paper to the Eco club volunteers and all the students read well and noted the importance of water to our life. We also showed One video at the moment to convey the significance of water for our daily needs. Beneficiaries - 150 Eco club volunteers
  • The Eco Club, in association with the Department of Computer Science, organized a Pamphlet Distribution event on Environmental Cleanliness on 21.03.2025 in and around Kongu Arts and Science College. The pamphlets were distributed to the students by Dr. H. Vasudevan, Principal of Kongu Arts and Science College, along with 30 students from B.Sc. (Computer Science).
  • The Eco club in association with the department of psychology has conducted a Monitoring Programme on 21-03-2025 to track the reduction of single use plastics. Observation and data collection revealed 30% reduction in single-use plastics compared to the previous month. To further improve, recommendations include providing alternatives, increasing awareness through regular campaigns, and continuously monitoring and evaluating progress. Overall, the program demonstrated a positive trend, and continued efforts are necessary to maintain and improve this progress towards a more sustainable future.
  • The Department of Biotechnology in association with the Eco Club of our college conducted a Debate Competition for the students of Biotechnology on 21.03.20255. The topic of the Debate was“Should SUP’s be completely Banned – Sustainable Alternatives – Does it start from Home or Institution?”. Two teams of 10 students (5 Participants on each side) debated in an enthusiastic manner. Beneficiaries: 65 students
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Management Science (PG) & Quiz Club jointly organized an Online Quiz on Environment Cleanliness for our college students on 24.03.2025 through an online platform. Around 98 Students from various departments eagerly participated in the online quiz to raise awareness about environmental Cleanliness.
  • Every Friday, the Eco club undertakes cleaning activity from 01.00 pm to 02.00 pm. The Programme coordinator and the volunteers of Eco Club are actively involved in the campus cleaning activities. The primary objective of the campus cleaning activity is the separation and segregation of daily plastic waste. This activity emphasizes the students about proper waste management practices. This initiative aims to educate participants about the importance of segregating waste materials, particularly plastic, to minimize environmental pollution and promote sustainability.
  • The green dustbin is used for disposing of biodegradable waste. The blue dustbin is used for disposing of non-biodegradable waste. This kind of waste is recycled and reused. The Kongu Arts and Science College instructed students to avoid plastic usage inside the campus. The college has provided Degradable and Non- Degradable waste management bins at various locations to collect the wastes and also given awareness to the students, faculty members and garden workers - how to use the segregation bins.
  • The Eco Club in association with the Department of Corporate Secretaryship with CA and Professional Accounting (CS CA & PA) conducted a Plastic usage monitoring programme in classrooms in the month of March-2025 in order to assess the environmental impact, raise awareness, and promote sustainable practices among students. Beneficiaries: 2978 students & Venue: All Classrooms
  • With reference to Tamilnadu Water Board letter (letter no 3974/A4/2021 dated 20.09.2021) to the collegiate education, Tamilnadu water board is conducting an Awareness programme on Rainwater Harvesting. In this regard, the ECO CLUB of KASC was organized various Competitions (Essay writing, Drawing and Slogan Writing) to our college students from 21.09.2021 to 23.09.2021 through Online Platform. Around 50 students participated in these competitions. Students were enthusiastically participated and exhibited their talents and the top scoring exhibits were selected and sending their details to Tamilnadu Water Board In-charge.
  • An orientation program was conducted to the Eco Club volunteers of the academic year 2021-2022 on 19.11.2021 and they were given an idea about the importance and responsibilities of Eco Club and to create an Eco-friendly environment in our college campus. Orientation programmes are the best platform for the new students to get an overview of the club activities and to train our students regarding the future plans. For enhancing green initiatives, our KASC Eco club suggested the volunteers to plant at least one tree sapling in their living environment and also advised to join in an Eco friendly organizations. 40 volunteers attended the program.
  • Awareness Programme on "International Pollution Day" was given to the Eco Club volunteers on 02.12.2021. Awareness was given on managing and controlling industrial disasters and to prevent the pollution produced by industrial processes or human negligence. To make people and industries aware about the importance of pollution control acts. Nearly 35 students got awareness on this day.
  • Workshop on Paper Bag Production was conducted on 09.03.2022 and Mr. S. Karthik Raj, Greenick Foundation, Pallipalayam served as resource person. Around 50 students are benefitted. Awareness about the importance of paper bags were given to the Eco-club volunteers and the production of paper bags was clearly demonstrated and the students were provided with the materials for making the paper bags.
  • With reference to the letter (letter no 8053/A1/2022 - 1 dated 01.06.2022) from the Directorate of Collegiate Education citing that, in commemorating the Birth Anniversary of the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Kalaignar M.Karunanithi on 03.06.2022 a "Mass Cleaning Campaign" was conducted in our College campus by Eco club. 35 Eco club volunteers actively participated in cleaning campaign on 03.06.2022.
  • An Intercollegiate National Level Webinar on "Effects of Afforestation on Biodiversity" was conducted on 26.06.2020 with the Resource Person Rtn.G.Karthikeyan, President, Rotary Club of Erode North & Erode Thulirgal Trust
